Is it just me or does it seem like everything in our lives and businesses just gets more and more complicated?
Picking our Internet provider, figuring out the latest social media platform, navigating the endless opt-ins shoved in our faces, or understanding what’s healthy and what’s not in between a sea of different opinions.
We’re constantly bombarded with choices and decisions to make.
You might be falling into decision fatigue without even realizing it.
All of these things not only use up our time, but they also use up our mental energy. And when we use up too much mental energy, we deplete our mental resources. When we deplete our mental resources, we either make poor decisions or avoid making decisions all together. (And that’s not so good for our lives or our businesses!)
So, the question becomes how can we alleviate decisions in both our personal and biz lives, so that we protect our mental energy and avoid decision fatigue? (more…)
Understanding your audience is important when it comes to marketing. But, a lot of the time, exercises like identifying your ideal client or creating an ideal client archetype, simply keep us stuck.
Because too many of us are living this story that if we don’t have things perfectly aligned, if we don’t understand every nook and cranny of our ideal clients, then we can’t take action. We can’t get visible, create content, share that content, and sell our programs and services. We wait and wait for clarity, and won’t move forward until we have it 100% (which is super hard to do without any action).

When we talk about getting visible, we have to talk about getting uncomfortable. Because the truth of the matter is that for many of us, especially at the beginning, being visible IS uncomfortable.
We don’t love posting on Facebook.
We don’t want our family and friends seeing us when we’re not yet “successful”.
We’re nervous to get on Facebook live – or submit a guest post.
We overthink what we say, how we look, or how others might react.
We wonder whether or not people will like what we have to say or if they might have something negative to say back.
At the heart of the matter, we’re asking ourselves…What if I get rejected? Or criticized? Or humiliated?
And, I get it. These fears are common for so many of us. But the things is that, for the most part, these fears are imagined danger – and they’re definitely not a reason to stay quiet or hidden. We’ve got to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

So many times we hear that sales are the lifeline of our business. We have put so much focus on “making the sale” and pitching to our potential clients, that many times we’ve forgotten why we created our business in the first place. Yes, sales are so important to the survival of our business, but have we been looking at this all wrong?
I’ve realized that business owners are approaching the growth of their biz all backwards. We’ve been trained when creating goals to ask questions like:
- How can I add 1,000 people to my list?
- How can I make 10K per month?
- How can I sign 6 new clients?
But, what if, we instead asked questions that are based on GIVING value. This is something I learned from the incredible Margaret Lynch and it works!
Instead we can ask:
- How can I give value to 1,000 new people?
- How can I give 10k worth of value per month?
- How can I give 6 new people a life + business changing experience?

A big block for many of us is that we compare our current business to our future business, and getting stuck/frustrated/overwhelmed that we aren’t there yet.
I feel really passionate about this topic because it keeps too many amazing entrepreneurs from moving forward and taking the consistent right actions that will lead them to the success they desire!

As a coach, I’ve seen how business owners can neglect their personal needs and personal growth in the early stages of entrepreneurship. You’re so busy trying to hustle and bustle and build your business that doing something for yourself just isn’t on your radar.
Here’s the deal: when you grow, your business grows.
You don’t need to feel guilty or any less of a badass for needing some self care, pleasure reading, or time with family and friends. It’s through those experiences that you’ll grow and develop which can only mean good things for your business!

Most of us feel like time is something we’re working AGAINST, not with.

I think sometimes people feel guilty for caring about money (which is super important as a biz owner!) because they think it makes them greedy. The truth is, caring about money won’t make you greedy, destroy your priorities, or turn you into a money monster.
But money can help you go on more vacations, send your kids to better schools, invest back into your business, take care of your health, and so much more.
Money is a tool that YOU use, not a vice that uses you.
The thoughts we consistently think are just as impactful as the actions we consistently take, because what we believe shows up in our lives!
Let’s correct this bullshit once and for all: being a business owner who cares about income doesn’t make you a bad person. You will never be less of a thoughtful, giving, kind-hearted person because you make money. Your income doesn’t define your worth, but it does give you a level of security, freedom, and comfort.
We need to get comfortable with money, work on our relationship with money, and set money goals that drive our business forward.

When we first begin our businesses, it can feel hard to create consistency and show up daily. This is especially true if we have another job or commitment that is still part of our lives. Being willing to do the uncomfortable work of showing up daily (even when we don’t want to) is what sets us apart from the other business owners.
If you show up daily, your business will grow daily. It’s as simple as that.
I am coming up on three years in business, multi-six figures, staying on track for my 2019 income goals, just closed out the FOURTH round of A Lit Up Partnership, and have clients that are killing it (we’re talking two that just closed out May with their first $10k months!).
And do you know what one of the things that I attribute that success to? No, it wasn’t learning a sales script or finding a 5-step blueprint to 25k months.
It was getting comfortable being uncomfortable. It was being comfortable enough to take BOLD action that created my BIG results.

Connection can REALLY grow a business. It makes the way for support, referrals, opportunities, and resources to flow our way.
But, when it comes to the kind of connection that pays off for the long haul, posting content online isn’t enough. Starting a Facebook group by itself doesn’t cut it. Booking loads of sales call is just step one.
Because GENUINE connection is the only type of connection that lasts and builds your business long-term. Being yourself, getting real, and staying vulnerable with your community – THAT’S the long-term strategy that will pay off more than you can even imagine. (more…)

It’s solving the WRONG problems in your business.
I see this often with clients that come to me trying to solve a problem with “starting the sale” (i.e. getting more warm leads) by learning how to do discovery calls better… but it’s not the right solution to that problem. Values and vision…these things ultimately make or break your business.
Whether or not your values and vision (or goals) work together or separately will determine whether you feel clear, inspired, and lit up about your work….or you feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and frustrated.
For long-term success, it’s crucial that your vision and goals are in alignment with your values.
