I get asked regularly how I created success so quickly in my business. The answer is not a grand 5-step plan or some big secret. Here’s what I did:
I showed up every. single. day.
I’d say that’s it, that’s all I did, but I know showing up consistently isn’t easy. In fact, showing up consistently BEFORE we see results can be quite hard. BUT, it’s what will make all the difference between success and failure when we’re starting out.
For me, showing up meant looking at my relationship with my tribe and my business just like any other relationship.
I knew that if someone I was dating showed up to hang out with me for 5 days in a row, then dropped off the face of the earth for 10 days, then came back for 2, etc…we wouldn’t be hanging out together for long. I realized right away that my potential clients, tribe, and followers feel the same way. They expect (and want) me to show up consistently even BEFORE they start engaging, interacting, and showing up for me. (more…)
Ready for a #truthbomb? It’s possible to build a thriving, VALUABLE community while building your business + bank account.
Because contrary to what some might say, these two things are not mutually exclusive. You don’t have to choose between building a community…or building an empire.
You get to have both, so long as you are willing to DO both!
That means, we don’t JUST focus our time on selling…and we don’t JUST focus our energy on serving. We’ve got to make space in our day for both, because only then do our communities AND our businesses thrive.

I built a thriving community AND an ever-growing bank account while staying value-based and in integrity the entire time. (Aka, no sleazy, slimy, manipulative tricks were needed. And I don’t talk about making XX amount five times a day!)
You see, I’m not one of those coaches who thinks you should only build a community to make more money. But, at the same time, I’m not one of those coaches who believes you shouldn’t sell to your community either.
For maximum results, we’ve got to develop a mindset where we can give value, serve, and be willing to receive all at the same time.

When I started my business I felt like everyone must have had it more together than me! I did NOT want to reach out, connect, or collaborate because there was a part of me that wasn’t standing in my power or giving myself any credit.
Now, I know that I probably had it way more together than a lot of people, but more importantly than that, I realize that it actually didn’t matter either way!
What matters is that we’re all in this together, we’re all entrepreneurs working for ourselves and often by ourselves, and that we’re in this business because we crave to serve and connect with others.
Collaboration and connection can REALLY grow our businesses. For me, it’s given support, referrals, opportunities, resources that I know I would have taken significantly longer to create on my own. So let’s remember that collaboration and connection are not only welcomed but also necessary to building and growing our tribes, our businesses, and ourselves.
The Money Isn’t In Your List (Or Group)… It’s In Your ENGAGEMENT With The People On/In It
I hear “the money is in your list” as a statement used constantly in this industry and in marketing. Yet, for those of us in service-based businesses… it’s just not true. The money isn’t in your list, it’s not in your FB group, and it’s definitely not in your social media following.
The money is in your ENGAGEMENT with that list, that group, that social media following.
As a coach who created over 100K in 10 months of business, and saw quick results right out of the gate… I know that is why.
I made my audience my priority… I created amazing content for them, and then focused on engaging on that content.
Do numbers matter? Certainly. But what matters more than numbers, and what matters BEFORE numbers is engagement!
At the end of the day you can have 5,000 people on your list but if none of them want to connect with you… they certainly won’t be buying from you!
I often see people saying that they’re worried about engaging too much. They think it will burn them out, that it will make them resentful, or that their audience will be less likely to buy if they have too much access to them.
I call bullshit.
YOU get to decide how much you let it burn you out. YOU get to see the energy exchange with your audience as positive, beneficial, and even. YOU get to build relationships that make them WANT to hire you.
Don’t get me wrong… we all need boundaries. I have to have boundaries because I have to prioritize myself and my paying clients. However, it doesn’t mean that there isn’t a middle ground where you can build SERIOUSLY engaged relationships and community without hurting yourself or your clients. (more…)
