Q&A: Retaining Clients

My question is about retainer clients. I had a conversation yesterday with a current client that I was pretty sure would sign up to continue working together for another six months, but she didn’t because she said even if she was feeling incredibly supported during our sessions, now she’s ready to dive into action since I helped her figure out her purposeful business and set up the initial steps, and she’s ready to implement all of the things we did. It was a bit frustrating because I know I could help her exactly in that new phase, that’s where the juicy stuff happens, but I didn’t know how to say it without sounding like I was pushing her. How do you go about in these cases? I’d love to have more retainer clients in the future.
