Q: Hello!
Thanks for the opportunity to submit questions. I’m a former executive who managed a lot of people and global programs in my corporate career. I don’t want to do that anymore. I don’t want to “scale” or “sell programs” — if I did I would have stayed in corporate with benefits and stocks and the like.
Instead, I am to build a sustainable business that is focused on 1:1 career coaching for women in tech globally that is designed with ample time for me to continue consulting tech companies and remaining in the dynamic, fast-paced tech industry. I envision perhaps one or two full-time support people in my business as my margin and pipeline grow and stabilize.
I’m struggling to see a clear way forward that doesn’t burn me while continuing to grow in impact for my beloved community of women in tech. Most particularly, I am frustrated by the growing immaturity in the coaching market that choosing the intimacy of 1:1 coaching means the coach is “choosing small”, “hiding”, etc.
What is your perspective and strategic direction for deepening the practice of 1:1 coaching for an audience that the coach genuinely loves supporting? What warnings do you have for the same?
Thank you very much, Lacey.
